Uber To Launch Carpooling in Delhi
BENGALURU: The international app based cab service provider Uber has planned to utilize the most of the Delhi government’s recent measures in interest of curbing pollution in the city. The buzz is that pollution rise in the city has received an immediate concern from the government, thus even-odd plan will be implemented from the jan 1st, as reported by the Firstpost.
Apprehending the abrupt changes in the traffic rules, Uber flung up with the carpooling concept in the city and has offered registrant to the private car owners. However, both commercial and private vehicles can be part of the initiative and 27 lakh car owners are expected join Uber.
As testified by the company, it will take up all needed measures to ensure the safety of both driver and the co-passenger during the ride.
From jan 1st the pilot program of odd-even formula will be enacted for 15 days; according to the rule, vehicles with license plates ending with odd and even numbers will be permitted to run, on alternate days. Nevertheless, the government will further decide on extending the rule based on the impact of pilot program over pollution.
Though the concept of carpooling among the private cars is new to the Indian population, it is already an emerged model in America.
Currently, Uber is function in more than 22 cities in the country, with 2.5 lakh registered driver partners with yellow number plates. Relatively, the current move by the company is expected to receive a decent response from the commuters of Delhi.
Uber runs the similar program in Bangalore, San Francisco, New York City, Boston, Austin, and Paris as well.
