1. Global Positioning System (GPS):

Global Positioning System (GPS), a space-based satellite navigation system was first developed by the United States' Department of Defense in the year 1959. This navigation system provides information of  locations and time in all weather conditions where there is passable line of sight to four or more GPS satellites. Although GPS was initially developed for American Air Force and Navy for tracking planes and ships and also to guide missiles, today GPS are widely used by common man to locate unknown places and are found in cars, commercial transporters and even in smartphones.
