Swami Vivekananda: A Turning Point in History of India

Bangalore: Some pave the path of wisdom armed only by will and fortitude. The divinity they posses lies in the ethereal work they deliver in the world. Even with the passage of time, their words never lose the power they once shined with. Such men are few and rare. These men have the charisma to charm the world by their caliber and potential to describe certain transcendental concepts from different view. The work and words of one such great man, Swami Vivekananda has continuously kept the world captivated ever since he made his presence felt with his work and insights.

Swami Vivekananda once said, “We are what our thoughts have made us; so take care about what you think. Words are secondary. Thoughts live; they travel far.” And he did travel far with his thoughts related to his opinions on God, religion, Hinduism and other transcendental reasoning. He is best known for his moving speech that he delivered at the Parliament of the world’s Religions in Chicago in 1893, which is seen as one of the turning points in history created by Swami Vivekananda. He began his speech with addressing the American audience as ‘Sisters and Brothers of America’ for which he received a standing ovation which lasted two minutes before he resumed his speech.
