India's Worst Train Accidents From Recent Times


BENGALURU: Two passenger trains derailed near Harda, Madhya Pradesh. Kamayani Express which was headed to Varanasi from Mumbai derailed near Kudawa railway station, due to flash floods. Following which, some coaches submerged into waters and rest blocked the railway line, which in few minutes struck another train Janata Express which was subsequently derailed at same place and collided with the wrecked Kamayani express. Thus the twin train accident killed over 31 and injured over 100 people.

However this isn’t  a rare mishap that the Indian Railways witnessed so far as here goes the list of 7 recent and most deadliest mishaps on the Indian rails.    

2006: Bhagalpur Mishap.

On 1st December, a portion of a 150 years old bridge which was being dismantled fell over a coach of a passing train near Bhagalpur, Bihar. The mishap occurred, when a segment of the third curve and the pillar of the bridge, which was being dismantled by railways workers, collapsed on a sleeper coach which eventually killed 35 and injured 17 passengers.
