1. The Anti-Hijacking (Amendment) Bill, 2010

It is necessary to make the provisions of the existing statute stricter and to award death penalty to the person who causes death of a passenger or member of crew of an aircraft while committing the act of hijacking of aircraft. Such a measure will act as a deterrent to those who plan or attempt to hijack aircrafts.

The proposed law would also give teeth to concerned agencies or security forces to bring to a halt a aircraft or prevent its take-off and also allow the Indian Air Force to move quickly its fighters to intercept a hijacked aircraft and force it to land.
