Vijay Mallya: Is He Still the 'King of Good Times'?

Bangalore: Vijay Mallya has been called as the ‘King of Good Times’ and there is no doubt about this.

Whether throwing lavish parties at executive locations around the globe or the ‘Kingfisher Calendar’ or may it be funding sports team, Vijay Mallya stood tall everywhere. He is better known as the ‘Party King’ and his collection of hi-tech toys has been one of his proud possessions.

The recent ups and downs in his business ventures, Kingfisher Airlines, have snatched some of the proud possessions from this flamboyant business icon. Here is the list of some of the hi-tech luxury toys; Mallya possesses no more, as reported by ‘rediff.com’.

1. India Empress

A super luxurious yacht was built for the ‘Qatari Royal Family’ by Dutch shipyard OceAnco in 2000 as ‘Al Mirqab’.

By 2006, ‘Al Mirqab’ was renamed as ‘Indian Empress’ as the Indian Party King, Vijay Mallya bought this multi-luxurious yacht. From 2006 to 2011, Indian empress has hosted several celebrity-studded parties.

Mallya sold his ‘Indian Empress’ in 2011 with an agreement that allows him to charter this yacht for 30 days in Europe.

His spokesperson reported ‘piracy’ in the Red Sea to be one of the main reasons behind selling the yacht.

2. Boeing 727

Whether on water or in the air, Mallya always had his own stunning machines. Boeing 727 was one of his most stunning aircrafts. He also had one luxurious Gulfstream which was owned by his company.

This downfall in his legacy was reported to occur due the ageing of the aircraft.

Now Mallya uses an Airbus 319 CJ which he has taken on a lease from the Deutsche Bank in London. He also uses a Hawker 700. The Hawker 700 belongs to Shaw Wallace and Mallya holds a major percent of shares in it.
