India's 10 Most Powerful Economists

BENGALURU: Economist, a profession that garners inevitable reverence across the world. Many Indian economists are renowned in the world. Economics is one of the ancient Indian subjects that has been passed on to us from erstwhile economists like Kautilya and Chanakya. There are many more such economic experts in India today.

Arvind Panagariya:

The newly appointed Vice Chairperson of National Institution for Transforming India, NITI Aayog, an organization that succeeds the Planning Commission.  He is now given the responsibility to shape the newly formed NITI Aayog and also to formulate the government policy. Earlier, Panagariya has had the experience and expertise while working with institutions like World Bank, International Monetary Fund, UNCTAD and WTO. There cannot be any other person who best deserves this position than Arvind Panagariya.
