NSC2, the NITIE Studentsâ Consulting Club recently conducted a unique consulting marathon, a two day workshop-cum-event in association with ZENeSYS Consulting, at its campus in NITIE Mumbai. A first of its kind event in the Indian B-Schools landscape, Zenith, was designed to not only equip students with various tools and strategies while handling consulting cases but also to give them a chance to actively work on a business project. The challenging format of the event had already created a buzz in campuses around Mumbai, to which it was open in its inaugural year, before it saw eager participation from as many as 62 teams in its preliminary round from various top-notch business schools. 23 shortlisted teams including from JBIMS, NMIMS and others were invited for the campus round and amidst high expectations, the event kicked off with an inaugural speech by Prof. Ashok K. Pundir, Dean - Students Affairs and Placements NITIE, followed by a live video-address by the Mr Saibal Sen, CEO ZENeSYS Consulting from Boston, USA. Through the course of the two days, the teams were given specialised training and assigned varied tasks by professionals from Zenesys, all of which were carefully crafted to build-up a consulting acumen amongst the students. The teams were also visited and addressed by dignitaries from consulting giants like Booz & Co. and Ernst & Young. The event also gave teams a chance to participate in Consul-Test, a management consulting quiz which was integrated into Zenith. Held in association with dare2compete.com, a popular one-stop portal for competitions in the management community, Consul-Test was graced with the presence of its founder Ankit Agarwal. World renowned Quizmaster Rajeev Kondapalli, who features in the Limca Books of records, kept the participants thinking and entertained. After a gruelling two days which gave participants a taste of the consultantâs life, the final stretch of the marathon saw 6 teams vying for the top spot. Top 3 spots went to teams from NITIE and SPJIMR, to whom a live consulting case for a PE equity firm in US was awarded by ZENeSYS. This was in addition to the cash prize won by the team reaching the Zenith, a team from NITIE. Five reports were also selected form the preliminary short-listing round for publication in an international PE journal. The first of its kind event was met with rave reviews from the student community. The encouraging feedback received has surely added to the vision of NSC2, which is to help students to seek out and pursue a career in consulting.
