Weird Questions MBA Candidates Face

Bangalore: The admission interview is one of the most significant parts of getting admitted into a business school. Business schools seldom employ the "stress interview" technique to see how you execute under anxiety. The method is nerve-racking enough and they pay more attention to getting their answers and getting to know you than in seeing how you perform under anxiety.

You might have heard from many applicants who were taken aback by weird MBA admissions interview questions which more than often come from alumni interviewers who have various levels of experience conducting the interview or just eager to test some questions that they would have heard on the job.

And just to keep you primed, here are a few questions that we have heard and found weird.

• How many golf balls are in the air around the world, right now?
• What's the best email address you've ever seen? Why?
• Sell me this pen.
• What is the worst book you ever read?
• I'm trying to land an airplane but don't know what to do. Talk me through it and help me land.
• Walk me through your resume in less than 30 seconds.
• If you could have any superpower, what would it be?
• If your parents were talking about you right now, what do you think they would say is your most annoying trait?
• Why do you think you don't currently have your boss’s job?
• If you could go back in time and steal Hitler’s wallet without fear of punishment, would you?
• If they did a movie about your life, what actor or actress would you choose to play you?
• If you were a tree, what kind of tree would you be?
• Tell me about a time when you made a very embarrassing mistake.
• If you could change the ending to any movie, what would it be?
• Don't you think an MBA is really just a waste of time?
• What was the last thing you ate?
• Are you a dog or a cat person? Sell me on why that animal is better.
• Look at this painting. What does it mean to you?
• Why would [school name] ever want to admit you?
• What's the best email address you’ve ever seen? Why?

Notice that these questions all have something to do with 'You', and remember that your reaction to these questions matter just as much as how you answer them. These off the wall interview questions are designed to explore how you see yourself and how creative you are. If you can turn your answer into something related to your course or job, it is a bonus and is most likely above the outlook of the interviewer. Remain calm, don’t get anxious, think about what you want to say and answer in an optimistic and succinct manner. So keep your cool and have fun answering these questions in case they come along!
