A legion from Saint Maryâs MBA students will be routing to India as part of the Collegeâs Trans-Global Executive MBA (T-GEMBA) program to help empower non-profit agencies in India. T-GEMBA is a unique graduate business program that teaches graduate students to apply business solutions to social service needs to individuals at the bottom of the economic pyramid across the globe. The current group of students will be working with the Mobile Creches agency, which provides education and health services for children of migrant laborers in India. Over the past 40 years, Mobile Creches has helped better the lives of more than 600,000 poor, emaciated and illiterate children.
Nearly four years old, the T-GEMBA program has worked with non-government organizations in Chile, Philippines, Argentina and India and will connect with agencies in Uganda, Kenya and Rwanda later in the fall. Saint Maryâs was one of the seventeen institutions of higher education in the nation deemed for a 2010 Presidential Award- the highest federal recognition a college or university could receive for its commitment to community service.
The director of the Trans-Global Executive MBA program in the School of Economics and Business Administration at Saint Maryâs says the repayment of T-GEMBAâs involvement with the organization could lead to lasting systemic change for Indiaâs poor children.
