Saint Mary's MBA Students Use Business Practices to Help India's Poor

Fremont: When you think about MBA, what comes to your mind is a picture of the corporate world. But California based Saint Mary's College seems to be chartering a new way for its students. This college not only gives students chance to improve their earning power with an MBA but also want to improve the world. This interesting back to school higher education offers an MBA with an interesting of working with developing communities instead of interning and working with global companies.

The graduate business program teaches graduate students to relate business solutions to social service needs to individuals at the bottom of the economic pyramid worldwide. These students are helping empower non-profit agencies in India unlike the others who make use of their degree to rake in more money by working in global companies.

A legion from Saint Mary’s MBA students will be routing to India as part of the College’s Trans-Global Executive MBA (T-GEMBA) program to help empower non-profit agencies in India. T-GEMBA is a unique graduate business program that teaches graduate students to apply business solutions to social service needs to individuals at the bottom of the economic pyramid across the globe.
The current group of students will be working with the Mobile Creches agency, which provides education and health services for children of migrant laborers in India. Over the past 40 years, Mobile Creches has helped better the lives of more than 600,000 poor, emaciated and illiterate children.

Nearly four years old, the T-GEMBA program has worked with non-government organizations in Chile, Philippines, Argentina and India and will connect with agencies in Uganda, Kenya and Rwanda later in the fall. Saint Mary’s was one of the seventeen institutions of higher education in the nation deemed for a 2010 Presidential Award- the highest federal recognition a college or university could receive for its commitment to community service.

The director of the Trans-Global Executive MBA program in the School of Economics and Business Administration at Saint Mary’s says the repayment of T-GEMBA’s involvement with the organization could lead to lasting systemic change for India’s poor children.

T-GEMBA is premeditated for mid-career or senior professionals who have, or aspire to global management responsibilities. This pioneering part-time global MBA program allows earning an MBA degree with an international focus in a time of fifteen months without disrupting your career. The course starts usually in February and June and no GMAT is required as the experience is valued.
