Over 7,000 Students Appear for CAT

New Delhi: Over 7,271 students appeared for the CAT exam Friday as it resumed after a two-day Diwali break.
No hitches were reported.
"In the beginning there were a lot of apprehensions, but luckily we had our exam much later. Though the sections are like water-tight compartments, it was more or less the same," said Sujata, who appeared for the exam.
The Common Admission Test (CAT) 2011 has two timed-sections of 70 minutes each unlike earlier years when there were no sectional time limits.
The first section tests quantitative ability and data interpretation while the second is based on verbal ability and logical reasoning.
The total time for the exam is increased from 135 minutes to 140 minutes.
"Unlike earlier, now there are two sections and you cannot choose which one to answer first," says Ulhas Vairagkar, director, T.I.M.E. Institute, Delhi.
The exam will be over Nov 18.
