NITIE to organise MahaMandi event on 6th August 2011

Mumbai: National Institute of Industrial Engineering (NITIE) is organizing ‘MahaMandi’, event on 6th of August this year. This event is an effort made by NITIE students based on the theme ‘learning outside the class room’. According to the program students have to sell educational toys to the public. The toys are made by NGO Navnirmiti.

The event is based on the concepts of ‘Corporate Social Responsibility’ and ‘Learning through Doing’. Started in 2004 the event has already covered most of the premier B-Schools in Mumbai and targeting a wider reach. The revenue generated through this event is handed over to the NGO, to provide better education to the under privileged children.

Through this event NITIE has implemented an application oriented management education in India. This year it is expected to witness participation from over 1500 students from institutes like Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS), Shailesh J Mehta School of Management(SJMSOM, IIT Bombay), Jamanlal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies(JBIMS), Tata Institute of Social Sciences(TISS) and KJ Somaiya School of Management (KJSOM) .

While this year’s target is to sell Rs 15 lakh worth of educational toys , last year the event managed to raise revenue of Rs 9 lakhs. The event will be flagged off by Dr. Aditi Gowitrikar (Bollywood actress & Mrs.World 2001) and Mr. S Roy Choudhary (Chairman, HPCL). Through this event NITIE aims to produce good quality managers with a humanitarian outlook.
