Bangalore: It is a big step – an exciting one though- deciding to sign up for an MBA. But if you think you are paying a fortune for an MBA, you might want to look at these management institutions who rake in more than $50,000 per student a year.

Harvard University: The graduate students at Harvard Business School usually get practical education through case method and are exposed to realistic problems that have to be tackled in teams. Ranked No. 2 by the U.S. News, the university's tuition and fees comes to $56,204 per year. Their alumni are also the most paid employees with an average base salary of $114,896.

Columbia Business School: In spite of their degree focus, students can take courses offered across Columbia University's educational divisions as electives, which make up more than half the M.B.A. program. The full-time fee is $53,208 per year while the required fee is slated at $2,380 per year by people. The alumni of Columbia Business School also have an average base salary of $106,472.

University of Pennsylvania (Wharton): Ranked number 3 in the world, The Wharton University is the U.S.'s first business school and now has the largest alumni network in the country. The MBA program offered by the university costs $48,550 per year. An expensive program that it is, the alumni earn around $113,888.

Stanford University: Ranked number 1 Management school in the world, the Stanford University offers an M.B.A. or a Ph.D. in seven areas. Students struggle with mock-up of tough management cases, like having to lay off employees as part of the curriculum. The tuition and fees comes up to $53,118 and students who have been placed have an average base salary of $118,793.

Carnegie Mellon University (Tepper): The Carnegie Mellon Tepper School of Business forged the mini-semester system, which is basically four quarters of 7.5-week classes. M.B.A. students can opt to study the General Management syllabus or follow one of seven expert M.B.A. tracks. The tuition costs are $52,500per year (full-time) and $1,707per credit (part-time). This expensive M.B.A. program earns its alumni around $93,723.
