Bangalore: Entry into the IIMs will get a little more complicated with the introduction of 'personal assessment round'. Initially, it was only the Group Discussion and Personal Interview that was a part of the admission. Now, most of the IIMs have almost substituted Group discussion with Essay Writing while some of the colleges have added it into the admission procedure.
Known as the 'Writing Ability Test'(WAT) in the IIMs, the students will be asked to write an essay on any topic of national and international importance. XLRI was the first to implement this, a few decades ago.
The time duration for this essay writing allotted by IIM Ahmedabad is 10 minutes, IIM Bangaloreâs gives 30 minutes and IIM Lucknow allows 15 minutes.
Here are a few essay topics from different areas, that have appeared in IIMs, XLRI & IIFT in the past few years.
