Bangalore: IRMA, Institute for Rural Management Anand, Gujarat which offers MBA in Rural Management helps student prepare themselves to work for development organizations. Being the first pencil exam of the year, IRMA will be held on November 13, 2011. The exam compared to CAT and NMAT is considered to be âEasy to Moderateâ. The test takes two hours to complete and has the following sections- * Analytical Reasoning: 50 questions * English Comprehension: 40 questions * Quantitative Aptitude and DI: 50 questions * Issues of Social Concern: 60 questions Every correct answer is credited with one mark and negative marking of 1/4 mark for every wrong answer.
The pattern for the IMRA entrance exam is almost similar to CAT, XAT, SNAP except for the section - âIssues of Social Concernâ.
Issues of Social Concern
This section is considerably tough compared to the other sections. The difference between this section and that of the General Knowledge section in other papers (CAT, IIFT etc) is that it deals with Economics and Rural Infrastructure. Students would have to keep a check on the Economic developments of the country, Government reforms and policies on rural development, Agriculture etc.
Below are a few important topics â 1.Issues relating to Indian economy and Indiaâs national income, the composition; per capita income, etc. 2.Social and economic issues such as poverty and inequality- poverty levels, employment and literacy by rural-urban background etc. 3.Health issues - management of public health, health education, and ethical concerns regarding health-care. 4.Planning in India, 11th Five Year Plan- goal, targets and strategies. 5.Social movements, recent legislations on social issues. And other related topics. The other sections will contain the following type of questions -
English Comprehension â This section with 40 questions, deals with Reading Comprehension and checks on the studentâs English Usage too. Believed to be an easy section, it includes topics like synonyms, antonyms, sentence completion, grammar, para jumbles etc.
Quantitative Ability â This portion consists of questions related to Data Sufficiency, Modern Math, Percentage, Algebra, Data Interpretation etc. It has a total of 50 questions, difficulty level being moderate.
Analytical Reasoning â This segment has questions relating to Reasoning (Matrix, Data Sufficiency, Coding-Decoding etc). With a total of 50 questions, 25 questions are regarding Logical Reasoning and the other 25 questions are related to Verbal Reasoning.
