Preparing for a course in MBA and other PGDM courses? If so, you need to clear an MBA entrance test. There are various types of tests that will offer you good options for MBA and PGDM courses in some of the top B-schools in the country.
Some preparation tips for the various types of tests are provided here, it is as follows: -

MAT:
• This paper is objective with multiple choice questions. You need to be quick and alert in order to score high in this paper.
• Stick to the time schedule given below in order to finish the paper on time.
• MAT is similar to CAT in its structure, but compared to it, MAT is easier. The pattern is more predictable and unlike CAT, which is based on application of knowledge, MAT is based on knowledge itself.
• Grammar is very important for the English section; question-types include analogies, synonyms and antonyms, match the list, idioms, one word for many and fill in the blanks.

SNAP:
• First, make a list of all the topics to be covered. SNAP needs a systematized preparation because various topics are covered in it.
• Take out at least half an hour to read newspapers, magazines and even short stories or books because this will help you in increasing your reading speed.
• Data interpretation includes extensive graphs and data, you need to practice regularly for this section in order to understand and easily comprehend these questions.
• Try taking mock SNAP tests when you have got a good understanding of the basics, take as many as you can. This will help you in building speed and also give you an idea on how prepared you are for the test.

IIFT:
• Speed solving/Speed reading is the most important part and this will help you in determining the success in this exam. IIFT tests your static GK as well. Data Interpretation is more calculation intensive. Passages are easier.
• You need to have a sound vocabulary in order to score high in the verbal section. Learn at least ten new words a day because it will be very helpful for you in the verbal section.
• To increase your reading speed and comprehension, read the newspaper daily.
• If you have prepared well for CAT, you don’t need to pay extra attention for the quantitative ability section. In comparison to CAT, the concept used is same and the level of the questions is quite easy, there will be questions from trigonometry too.

FMS:
• Start studying from at least 3-4 months before the actual examination.
• Be clear about the topics/sections that will be covered in the examination.
• For the English section, focus more on fill-in-the-blanks, spelling errors, origin of words, analogies, phobias, synonyms and antonyms.
• Memorize math formulae as a number of questions will require their direct application.

IRMA:
• Focus more on Analytical Engineering.
• Learn to manage the time well as it is very important.
• Concentrate on rural issues and keep updated on the happenings.
• IRMA is different from other exams as it also covers issues about social concerns.

Take mock tests regularly as you will get a rough idea about how much you have prepared about it. Analyze your mistakes and try to resolve them. An exam is not about studying at the lasy minute and revising, it’s more about being alive and mentally alert.
