Bangalore: Do you really think MBA is a possible ticket to huge pay checks and great entrepreneurship? As a student you might be good at many things you do, doesnât mean you get the same heights in entrepreneurship. MBA is helpful only if you are an experienced hand in entrepreneurship or if you have good connections and contacts. There are some successful and intelligent players in the business world, those made it great without an MBA. Look at people like Steve Jobs, Warren Buffett, Larry Ellison, and Bill Gates. Look at the way how they made it possible without an MBA.
One should possess things like self-confidence, a need for independence, energy, passion, curiosity, and an ability to communicate ideas. These are some inbuilt assets which you should be able to acquire yourself.
Be Passionate
First and foremost, be passionate about what you do. Take your business as your lifetime goal. Success comes only if you love what you do. No B-schools can teach you how to be passionate. Success in business is all about patience and hard work, which can only be attained if you are passionate and crazy with your tasks and activities. That passion is something which you can build within you.
Ability to Take Risk
An entrepreneur is the one who takes risk. That is the real attitude and enthusiasm of an entrepreneur. Education can influence and boost up this attitude by helping one to understand their project and seminars. Learning about business strategy, finance and marketing will also be helpful for climbing the ladder with bit more confidence. Nobody can teach one about the enjoyment of taking risks!
Problem Solving Skills
Cracking case studies, PowerPoint presentations, acing jargons and arcane charts doesn't guarantee you skills and knowledge required to help run a company. You need firsthand experience which is gained through practical knowledge and experience. You should be able to define, prioritize, understand and solve the problems. No B-schools will teach you about this problem solving skill, you will acquire it only through experience.
Be a Go Getter
Identifying opportunities is the first step to entrepreneurship. The entrepreneur should be able to mark out the need of his company before anyone else could. This need is visible through disorganization. A real entrepreneur should be able to figure out a potential solution for the need. Nobody teach you about how dreams become goals and how patient and persistent you have to be to get your dream as a reality.
