Bangalore: The All India Management Association (AIMA) has all prepared to go against the Common Management Admission Test (CMAT) declared by the Centre for admission to all management programs in India. AIMA has portrayed CMAT as biased and partial.
AIMA put up its complaint through a written letter drafted to the Human Resource Development Ministry in which it has claimed that the proposal to launch and conduct CMAT only in computer based format is unfortunate for a cosmic country like India. It also claimed MAT exam is conducted both online as well as in paper pencil based format. Thus, more number of students belonging to different educational backgrounds can take the test easily.
AIMA suggested online entrance as a good alternative for elite tests such as CAT which mainly target students residing in metros, who are interested in joining institutes such as Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs).
This computer oriented exam will restrict students from tire 2 and tire 3 cities from conducting the test. This will increase economic discrimination and scope of admission in management courses for students from rural areas.
