Bangalore: It's time for MBA candidates to crack yet another important entrance exam. The entrance exam of IIFT Delhi and Kolkata for the academic year 2012-2014 is set to happen this, on November 27, 2011.
The exam paper pattern seems to change every year with the number of questions in each section differing from year to year as well. IIFT 2010 had 135 questions, whereas IIFT 2009 had 122 questions. The overall difficulty levels were set at moderate to tough. The four sections of IIFT are Quantitative Ability, Verbal Ability, Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning and General Awareness.
The paper consists of Quantitative Ability, Verbal Ability, Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning, and General Awareness.
Here is a look at the questions one can expect in each of the sections:
Quantitative Ability:
The questions usually cover topics like Number Systems, Progression, Percentages, Averages, Permutation and Combination, Probability, Profit and Loss, Trigonometry, Geometry, Algebra, Time, Speed & Distance etc.
Verbal Ability:
This section is divided into two areas, English Usage and Reading Comprehension. In English Usage area, the common topics from which questions are asked are Fill in the blanks, Correct Way of phrasing, Verbal Analogies, Spelling correction, Para Jumble and sentence correction. The Reading Comprehension passages are generally on the topics of Business, Economics, Psychology and Investment.
Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning:
The question patterns are on tables, graphs, charts for the Data Interpretation area and puzzles for Logical Reasoning area. The difficulty level of this area varies from easy to moderate.
General Awareness:
The questions can be from static general knowledge as well as current affairs. The common areas from which the questions are asked are business, Country-Capital-Currency-Parliaments, Current Affairs, Locations of International Organizations and Economics etc.
