Brief description about me
I am Mrs. Chhaya Vijay Nikrad working with Watershed Organisation Trust (WOTR - www.wotr.org) since past 19 years in IT section.
I came from a farmer family and from a small village, where till my graduation there were no electricity. In those days in my village (and the same situation almost all the villages) was that the girls use to get married at the age of 13-14. Only 50% children use to get education that also upto primary only. But my father encouraged and gave support for our further education.
Thoughts on Education system of our country
Actually I do not want to blame but the fact in India is, in British reign, Indian were introduced to become clearks and civil servants, after 65 years of independence there is not much change. Another thing is, in India education is costly and parents are spending their life savings or are borrowing money for their children to get good education. Even though the children are struggling to get employment of their choice. There are many options, but the people are unaware because of proper guidance and resources.
My opinion is everyone has some special skills / different characteristics and it should be discover in a childhood. So the education systems should be like that where the skills can discover in the childhood and encourage to grow and educate in that way. And if the person get education on the favorite work which he likes most then ultimately he can become expert in it and will get good employment or can become businessman.
My family background
My father was a farmer. Being a farmer he gave us a good education (me and my 3 brothers).
I have 2 children and they are my heart Amit and Sonakshi. Amit is doing engineering and Sonakshi is just 2 years old. My husband Vijay is working in Govt. of Maharashtra, Dept. of Industries.
Degree that I recommend
Master degree in Management is essential for my career
Influenced by
Fr. Herman Bacher he is the inspiration for me, Crispino Lobo the great visionary and Marcella D’souza the role model.
My strongest skill
I have good analytical skills and i am good in database management. Have developed number of softwares as per the requirement / need of the organisation where i am working
My achievements
I have developed number of software as per the organization requirement. Out of which 2 modules which are developed are being widely use by many institutions which are working in the area of NRM (Natural Resource Management) across India. That is my achievement which I feel proud off.
Initiative to develop a country
Professionals should give time to use their professional skills voluntarily for the people where there is a need and which can help to develop them at least once in a month which will ultimately help India to become a developed country.
Ensuring success
I am in IT section and being an IT person, we need to keep update ourselves as in IT sector your yesterdays knowledge become old today. So always tries to keep updates.
Couple of years from now
Frankly speaking if I get a chance I would like to become a politician and would like to change the system.
Ok that is not my profession, but like to have separate Software company where the talent from rural will be used and they will be the member of company.
