The lesson I have learnt from my profession is that, if one wants to be in this profession then
•One should be dynamic enough to learn new technologies.
•Adapt to work in rapidly changing environment and always be hands on with technology
•Keep adding domain knowledge to be up-to-date with market
Tech trends to watch out for
Basically i am from telecom protocol testing background. So i am keeping eye on changing technologies with different new concepts. Like now Cloud testing is in high demand. This is a good opperunity for future testing aspirants.
Areas for the Future
I could say in future telecom testing will have a very good opertunity with specialization is cloud testing.
The Journey So Far
I started my career as a Soft Engg at one product based organization.
Then I have worked in multiple technologies with different roles like chief engineer for one component, Test Architect, Project Manager and worked as Test manager also. Currently, I am working in product line management team.
Currently working at
Currently i am in Product line management team and working as a product specialist for LTE technology.
My job is to discuss with differnt customer and collect the requirements from them. Then capture those into feature sheet so that R&D can study the requirment to proceed further to implement that.
Plans for the Future
I may be working as a Product Manager. The long term goal is to be a consultant in the field of QA, Project Management. For this the EPBM (Executive Programme In Business Management) from IIM, Calcutta will definitely help.
Required Reading
My suggestion is one should go though the different processes the software testing and read good books on testing (from Cem Kaner, James Bach etc). Can also do some certification on Software testing to understand and develop the testing concepts.
Essential Advice
My advice is first one should go through the different processes involved in software testing.
Gather knowledge about latest tools, methodologies available in the market.
Be strong in the perticular domain in which S/he has the interest.
