setting jdk path in windows

Hello all,
I am unable to set path using command "set PATH=%PATH%;C:Program FilesJavajdk1.6.0_17bin "..This command is given in verification of JDK tutorail under first meeting with java section. Still javac command is not getting exectued. Kindly please tell me how to set path in windows vista operating system.
