Getting admission into a B-school of your choice is like a dream which came true for many students. Along with a sense of relief and pride, students in the incoming batch tend to feel stressed out and nervous. Regarding this, a student from IIM Bangalore shares his experience in IIM Bangalore in this article. He has also sorted out some tips on how to survive in a premier B-school.

Some Do’s and Don’ts are given below:

The main reason why students worry is because of the fear that they will not be able to keep up in such accomplished company. You need not worry about it because everyone else will be in the same position as you and so you need to have faith in yourself and your abilities. Make the most out of the opportunity you are getting there, use the resources that you are given to realize your dreams.

IIM Bangalore has relative grading. Students should know that they are competing against themselves because each one of them has the ability to make an impact on the country, society and economy. You need to utilize the possibilities the institute opens up to reach their own potential in their own way.

One important thing to be noted is that people you will get to know while studying there, the friends you make will all add value to you and your life later on. So, when approaching people for the first time try to approach them with a generous, open-minded attitude. Try to actually get to know them and make friends with them. One of the most valuable opportunities in IIMB is a chance to know a great set of people.

Since most IIM students are engineers, you may find the subjects taught, and the culture at a B-school a bit different, you may find the soft side of subjects to be somewhat unclear too, with no sense of a ‘right’ answer. To deal with all these factors, you need to be flexible, curious and have an open mind, it can really make you enjoy the experience at the B-school.

Practical tips:
• There are lots of convenience stores on campus for most items.
• For certain classes, formal clothes will be required.
• Students with work experience should get recommendations with verification of resume points in order to save time later.

1: I am extremely worried about the stress involved with attending a business school. I've been looking around at some business degrees, and I'm definitely sure that I wish to apply. Articles like this though really calm my nerves, especially when it's practical advice.

I really do need to take note that my classmates will be in the same position as me! It's all too easy to forget that you're not the only new person there.
