More Commerce grads make it to IIM Lucknow

Bangalore: According to the reports made by the IIM Lucknow, there has been an increase in the number of commerce graduates taking up courses offered by the institute. Though engineering students still dominate the scene, 36 students from commerce stream have opted for the program; there has been an increase in the number of students from commerce streams for the flagship Post Graduate programme in Management.

The current batch sees an increase in the number of students from commerce and medical related streams. The largest batch till date of the Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow (IIM-L) is the 2011-2013 batch of flagship Post Graduate programme in Management (PGP) with 419 students.

Students having an engineering background make up for majority of the student population (82.10 percent), though their percentage has come down by 2.5 percent compared to the previous year. There are thirty-six students from the commerce stream, four architecture students, eleven students from medicine and/or related streams, eight science students and seven from other streams.

The gender specific break up of students has not changed a great deal over the last year-eighty six percent students are male and fourteen percent students are females. Percentage of students with a work experience of less than twelve months is forty-two while students with more than thirty-six months of work experience are twenty percent.
