Samsung’s adaption to Linux can be seen as a strategic step to boost its business. It already has television sets, appliances that operate on Linux based software. And with the recent battle that it is having with Apple, Samsung is aware that it is only Linux that can compete with iOS and Android. With the latest ruling that came in the Samsung-Apple patent battle, Samsung is gearing up to cut throat of Apple in every way possible. Thus, it announced that it will be donating $500,000 annually to the Linux foundation.

The ARM technology is a hot topic in the hardware industry for its feature of improved performance with lower power usage. The makers of this technology are adopting Linux in a chorus and embedding it at the heart of both consumer and business systems.
