5 Reasons Why Microsoft, IBM Are Embracing Linux

2. Microsoft:
Microsoft was against Linux once for the reason that the open source software was finding popularity as a replacement of Windows. They even went to an extent of calling Linux as a cancer. But last year, Microsoft announced that it will be signing a four year pact with the Suse Linux distribution. So what was the reason behind this sudden change? Well, Linux has reached to such a stage where it is being widely accepted among enterprises for its features such as sevrer products and ease of virtualization. Microsoft had to make an obvious choice, either adapt to Linux or lose its customer base.

3. Dell:
Dell and other laptop manufacturers are coming up with notebooks that have Linux pre-installed in them, an exception to the previous versions that came with Windows. The reason that is leading to this step is clear; Linux is an cost effective option against expensive Windows and has found wide popularity among all user-bases.
