India Announces Women's Cricket Fixtures for Future Tours

India will host England, Australia, Bangladesh, and Zimbabwe under the recently announced women's 2025-29 Future Tours Programme, where matches will be played as part of the fourth edition of the ICC Women's Championship.

India will also be hosting a part of their away fixtures against New Zealand, South Africa, West Indies, and Ireland between the scheduled announced period of the same by the ICC. The Second women's FTP runs between May 2025 through to April 2029.

This FTP finds an ICC women's tournament to be staged annually. The first edition of this six-team Champions Trophy has been scheduled for 2027. Other tournaments up for staging between the tournaments are the ICC Women's ODI World Cup in 2025 in India, Women's T20 World Cup in 2026 in the United Kingdom and yet another edition of Women's T20 World Cup in 2028, whose hosts are still unknown.

The number of participating teams in the ICC Women's Championship will be 11 this time, added for the first time into the championship. In total, 132 ODIs shall be played in 44 series of three matches apiece, providing context to this qualification pathway to the ICC Women's ODI World Cup in 2029.

Ahead of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2026, England is scheduled to host India and New Zealand for a tri-series. In contrast, Ireland is scheduled to host Pakistan and the West Indies. Other Members in line to host T20I tri-series include Sri Lanka in 2027 and the West Indies in 2028.

"We are pleased that the new edition of the IWC has expanded and will include Zimbabwe as an eleventh team. That Member Boards are keen to play across formats and also scheduled tri-series to prepare for ICC events is encouraging.".

"The effort by the Members to deliver a balanced and contextual calendar will further raise the women's game," Wasim Khan, General Manager of Cricket at ICC said. "We are thankful to Member Boards for their commitment and collaboration with regards to finalizing FTP.".

There is more room for Test matches in this FTP, with Australia, England, India, South Africa, and the West Indies all agreeing to play multi-format series that include ODIs and T20Is. Australia will play the maximum such series – two each against England, India and South Africa and one against the West Indies.

There is an annual window for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, to be held in July that year, besides all the dedicated windows every year for WBBL (November), The Hundred (August), and WPL. From 2026 onwards, WPL will play in the January-February window.

It also means India's multi-format visit of Australia, comprising one Test, three ODIs and three T20Is, now to be held after the WPL in February-March 2026. "This is the first women's FTP with the WPL in place from the start. The BCCI's decision for the WPL to move earlier in the calendar year allowed us to look at our preferred times to play international cricket across the period."

"We, for a number of years now, have been searching for open space for our wonderful ladies' team and players to thrive, and also for the team to reliably show up at a given time during the season. Straight after WPL in February-March was the slot that was identified.

"This also allows us to extend the international cricket season which we see as an advantage – cricket around the country generally runs from the start of October to the end of March and having our biggest international matches spread over that period makes sense," Peter Roach, CA's head of operations and scheduling.
