Today, technology has become a strategic enabler for organizations to streamline workforce management processes and enhance employee productivity ratios. Organizations are continuing to embrace workforce automation solutions to help them become more agile and lean in their operations. More than ever before, organizations are open to implement cloud-based solutions, in order to focus more on their core business. New age technology paradigms like Big Data Analytics, Mobility and Social are enabling organizations to engage and manage their workforce better.
Leveraging Big Data Analytics the right way, organizations can derive a lot more visibility into their workforce processes. In fact, a recent study conducted by The Workforce Institute at Kronos Incorporated revealed insights into how organizations are struggling to reap the benefits of Big Data Analytics and derive contextual, actionable insights to increase process efficiencies. The workforce management market is bound to witness significant growth in 2015 and beyond.
The survey also stated that, workers around the world are ready to embrace wearable technology at work, with nearly three-quarters (73 percent) of online adults seeing at least one potential workplace benefit. Wearable devices could benefit the workplace by a way of increasing efficiency, productivity, and safety. Interestingly, India and China are leading the race of using this technology at workplace – with India and China at 72 percent and 73 percent respectively. Globally, the top-three wearable devices that adults in most countries claim would be useful in their current workplace position are smart headphones, smart watches, and arm/wrist computing devices.
Consumer technologies are poised to dramatically impact workforce management. Mobile devices and social media have transformed the way employees and employers communicate, while gamification and wearable technologies are expected to win in the workplace. Workforce management software suites and mobile platforms will continue to evolve with consumer software design concepts, including increased focus on the user experience (UX), responsive design, flat OS functionality, and drag-and-drop and touch screen performance.
In parallel, Workforce Automation continues to be a key catalyst to drive optimum productivity levels in an organization. The latest trend in the automation of workforce is using Cloud Computing; this saves time for both the employee and employer. Another aspect which we will see catching up fast is real time accessibility of information. This will fasten the decision making process.
Opportunities in the Coming Days
Big Data Analytics promises to be a big growth engine for organizations to manage their workforce productivity better and boost their bottom lines. Most organizations drowned in data in 2014, as few have unlocked the secret to analytical success. However, organizations that have lagged behind will take notice of winning Big Data best practices from previous years, while workforce management tools will deliver analytics for evidence-based decision making in 2015. Industry-specific solutions, visualization technology, and new applications from specialized consultation and services vendors will utilize existing workforce management data to create actionable insight.
