SAP Shakes Up R&D Division, Vishal Sikka To Steer Operations

Vishal Sikka- The Man with the Golden Arm:

An executive board member, the torch bearer for the technology, innovation and platforms (TIP) board area, and also the CTO, it’s not every day you get to see a man with this caliber and maybe this might be the reason why SAP trusts him a lot.

Born and bought up in Vadodara, Sikka was the son of an office in the Indian Railways.  He graduated from Rosary High School. After completing his B.S. in Computer Science at Syracuse University, Sikka was accepted for the doctoral program at Stanford University. His dissertation was titled Integrating Specialized Procedures into Proof Systems. He graduated with his Ph.D. in 1996.

After a brief stint at Xerox's research labs, Sikka founded iBrain which competed at the time with Business Objects. Later on, iBrain was acquired by PatternRX. His second startup, Bodha.com, focused on developing technology for non-invasive, service-based integration of enterprise applications and information.
