My family background
Born in sleepy town of Dehradun with working parents, life was always discipline as father was Scientist in Defense Ministry and Mother as Financial officer in ONGC. Elder sister was major support during the day time to feed me with fresh food and taking care of other stuff.

Love to spend more time in college sport field than classrooms always keen to play any game but Basketball became favorite in college, got chance to play in University and district team.

Though travelling is part of professional life and love it also but based in Doon Valley with small family. Wife Reena, who left her carrier in Airlines sector is running community school in Dehradun and is also trained special educator and taking care of responsibility of two growing young and energetic boys, Shubhang and Sukrit. Shubhang is in 11th Std. and Sukit, is in 7th Std., both love playing, reading.

Prefer to spend weekend with family and friends, which fortunate to have plenty
More about myself
I am always inclined for social issues around me and feel responsible to behave like. when in college started book bank for poor students, and actively participated in student politics to raise the voice of student with College management. Being a IT professional, I started thinking to link my profession with marginalized communities, like what doctor can do for the poor people. This thought gave me opportunities to think beyond my living and started linking new new role and change maker. When my first project was selected , I had no clue , how to talk and discuss with international community, but my belief and conviction in this gave to new image and confidence to take it further. Always thinking and working without any secure line , I am always able to define my own line and later all this become very secure lines.
Like when I used to speak about responsible business no one cares but now CSR has become part and parcel of Business.
Brief description about me
Professionally, I am man of Technology (IT), after spending initial 10 years in commercial IT sector (Technology Implementation, Training and Networking in India and South East Asia). I moved from hardcore commercial IT to socially sensitive IT sector, little know sector i.e. “ICT4D (ICT for Development)”.

My first motivation in this sector came handy when my first ICT based concept “C-LIFTT" was shortlisted by Stockholm Challenge Award as runner up in Sweden and simultaneously, I was called by Ballarat University, Australia to present paper on this theme of Digital empowerment.

Next ten years, I dedicated myself for bridging the gap between Information and information Communities across the globe and got opportunity to visit more than 25 countries and work for Advocacy from policy level to grassroots implementation.

Presently, heading another social enterprise "GEA-South Asia" to link
business with ethics and socially responsible behavior as CSR Consultant/Trainer.
My strongest skill
I always give 100 % to what I do. I believe that if you have natural capabilities in particular domain, one must try.
On the basis of your conviction and belief , one can always bring results and instead of trying for low hanging fruits, one must try to to hit the basics of your thoughts with positive aspirations.

Communication and networking with like minded individuals and professionals is always important to carry forward your mission and I feel I have this quality to leverage on.

Respect of your seniors and subordinate, will give your many dividends in this small world. With new social media and ICT's presence your impressions is always move ahead , so one has to be careful and think of long term gains rather than short ones. so keep your commitments at achievable level.
Reading is another area, which will give you continuous up gradation, so I never miss any chance to read , learn and understand other part of world.
Qualities needed to become a successful leader
As mentioned earlier, conviction to believe 100 % in yourself will always give advantage. In the initial years of careers, never try to make life comfortable and secure. Take risk on the basis of resources one have, capabilities to handle that risk and give more than 100 % to the task undertaken. Always feel that we are not working for someone else, what ever we are doing we are doing for ourselves, be it in Job or own venture. One has to build reputation of Doer first with strong level of commitments to win professional friends and supporters.

No one is born with knowledge and experience, we are learning and gaining knowledge by reading , doing and watching. so never hesitate to take first step which no one has taken ever. If you have dreams, chase them , people will follow you.
In this new world, where boundaries are irrelevant, opportunities are plenty. If we don't get local support someone will support from other part of the eart
My role model
Yes, that's very important to have role models. Though they keep on changing sometime with time, age and exposure, but yes one must have.
For me as child Swami Vivekanad was role model who is stil role model and will remain so. But in this long journey I am inspired by people like Narayan Murthy, Sam Pitroda, Prof. M Yunus, Dr. Kurien Vergese are all selfless people , who have done great job for humanity and mankind.
why they are super models is clear to me, because they left secure job and make larger impact on society rather than just thinking of their job, old age security and their own family.

We need people like them to transform the world and bring inclusive growth and development, rather than just to stick family and own own world.

We need to bring changes for others with right mind sets and objecitves
My achievements
I am always proud of my micro and macro level achievements, what ever coming on my way/journey of self realization and connecting my actions with happiness and satisfaction. I never link my achievement with materialistic world, so when I see my concepts and dream taking tangible shape , this gives me immense satisfaction.
When I was selected to go to Singapore to Launch Tamil (multiligual ) software, I was thrilled. When European Community Informatics invited me to be on their Board from South Asia, I was on the top of the world. When UN/ITU called me to Geneva as civil society representative, I thought its going to be final. When American Publisher called to and offered Co-authorship to write a book on Digital Divide, it was dream coming true. But all this is part of your journey and one have to move ahead with same spirit and energy to some time undefined journey to small achievements.
Important decision
when I was getting ready for my first job, one of my mentor asked me "Are you ready to take up this job" or just for the sake of job you are going for interview.

Even I was also not clear, coming from Service class background, never thought that I am not fit for job. But I took decision to become self employed and started my venture quite early, when my batch mates were looking for job, I hired some of my senior to work for my company.

I take decisions and some time unlike true businessman, I jump into them and always finds ways to move ahead.

I never regret for my decision and may be that's reason why I keep on exploring new things and new world around.
Influenced by
I am bit restless person and changing with time and age. I love that as well, because I feel its one life and you have to always explore. I never met my role models but find them in various roles and personalities. Being a sport man at college level, I have dream to play like some friends from AMU. As a business man, I love to read and watch the actions taken by Dr. Vergese Kurien and Prof. Mh. Yunus of Grammen Bank. I love ready their books , which has changed my thought process.
during professional career, my boss Mr Muthukrishan , CEO SRG was role model for his knowledge on Technology and leading simple life style.

Otherwise , my exposure with Social sector gave me enough opportunities to meet some wonderful personalities in different part of world.
My Prof Wal Taylor at central Queensland University, Australia was another wonderful person, great fan of Mahatma Gandhi always inspire and guide me for his intllect and vision.
Degree that I recommend
Yes, one must get relevant degree for his /her choice of work. As such orientation give proper vision and clear understanding of the subjects. so I always prefer to go for such certification. It give right start for right career choice.
When I used to talk about CSR, I found this very simple, but when I was assigned by CBI, Netherlands Govt. to go thru one year course under their expert guides, experts from Europe, the picture is very different . now we understand the intricacies of the subject and when you understand basics of its, it help you to look at problem with different prespective, So I think all simple looking topics and subjects have quite complicated understanding. So such courses save one time and energy in learning them by hot and trail ways.
Thoughts on Education system of our country
I have very different opinion about Indian Education system. Though I do not have any direct interaction with with academic world. But got an opportunity to consult World Largest Open Schooling system (NIOS) as ICT Consultant, so sharing my thoughts. We are still working on very outdated education model which is not learner centric and able to produce leaders, thinkers and innovators. Our education is producing job seekers and unfortunately our social systems is also driven by that . Parents always working hard to make living of their wards secure by providing education system which can offer them degree in demand. Value and Morale education is no where in scene apart from some books to showcase.
With NIOS I got chance to support their On Demand Examination systems, which is not traditional assessment methodology but learner centric methodology and helping students to get out of exam Phobia and related stress,
Ensuring success
Yes, to assure that very recently I have started working with much younger generation and started sharing my experience, knowledge , mistakes with them. Its vice versa, so am also learning.

Otherwise, meeting people with diverse background, reading books, magazines also gave me new ideas to select one of them, apply them and learn from them.

Doing and traveling are the best way of Learning ,meeting people from other part of the world. If we confined ourselves in very tight and controlled situation, we will limit of learning also. As never miss any chance to meet new faces with much more energy and better ideas, and keep the journey on as students.

Just launching another endeavor for young India called "Yuva Prerna Yatra" , its a journey of learning in very shared and innovative methods. Linking urban mindsets and rural counter parts, so its different learning models of all of us.
Initiative to develop a country
Very interesting question, we all professional or self employed or entreprenuers, need not to be self centric first, we need to thin and act beyond ourself, our family and our own social status. Once we start looking at other issues, problems, we can takeup some responsibility to become change makers.
Life is more satisfying and beautiful when we think beyond ourselves.
In the recent time, the world is changing and best thing is that today youngster are moving in right direction with their actions, innovations. So if we provide them right direction and channalised their energy, world is going to be different place to live.
Today India Inc., Govt. CSO are talking about Corporate Social Responsibility , but I feel first we need to define:Individual Social and Sustainable Responsibility", CSR will follow.
We need to give them exposure with Rest of India/Indian and then only India will move towards inclusive growth with their support.
Couple of years from now
I prefer to see India and Indian moving ahead on equal path of transformation. Being oldest civilized country, I would be happy if I can make some tangible change in the thought process of young Indians and they are future decision makers and as per the data India becoming youngest country in the world. So I will more younger in my thought in the coming years and would remain part of this process.

I am working on some visible models to show case our Gen next, and will be happy if my action can speak louder than my words. So have to wait and watch .
Important lesson learned
Yes, life has taught me many lessons and if I say that there is nothing left, I will be wrong. I would like quote that" Attitude not the aptitude determines the altitude", so we need to change our attitude first, remain positive, stay away from negative people. negative environment. As even if they will not disturb you but will take away their positive and constructive time .

Always look ahead , as we can not change our past so no point of wasting our energy and time in to look back.

Whenever you get time, spend in good company, learn music, art, photography, stay close to nature and have a feel of it.

Whenever we are free, make a journey without any long plans. Make yourself uncomfortable , come out of your comfort zone, work on uncertain things/tasks some time to realize the pain other under privilege gets. This is the best learning and real life experience.
you will be better person after all this journey
