5. Typhoon Nina-

China is one country which is the hot target of most of the natural calamities. Typhoon Nina is also one such natural havoc that laid its cold hand in this country on the most unfateful day of 5th August 1975 with a death toll of 229,000. As such, this typhoon is also known as Super Nina.

This deadly typhoon came along with wind speed of about 110 kmph. It was the rain which played a spoilsport by flooding the entire regions which was twice the levels repoted 1,000-year agaand this further collapsed the Banqiao Dam. The flood resulted over 150,000 casualties which is why this typhoon is known to be the most hazardous one.

6. Tangshan earthquake-

On 28th July 1976, 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck the city of Tangshan located at the northeastern part of China near the coast during the wee hours of the night, followed by another earthquake with a magnitude of 5.0-5.5 on the Richter scale.

Though the estimates of death were hard to record initially but one of the official sources declared death tolls to be about 250,000 people and over 799,000 people were injured. The damage was so massive that it had even reach Beijing.  Among all the chaos and havoc, it was the Chinese government’s decision not to accept any international assistance after the quake that stirred more trouble among the people.
