Bidders snapped up around 150 pieces of Oprah Winfrey’s wardrobe for more than $150,000 for charity with the help of ”O” magazine creative director Adam Glassman. The talk show queen auctioned 150 items including clothing, ranging from sizes 10 to 14 such as a purple Carolina Herrera dress, shoes and accessories on eBay benefiting her Leadership Academy for Girls in South Africa.

#4 Silver Dollar bids dollars

Sold for: $50,000 (approximately 27 lakhs)

Until the successful bidding of a 200-year old silver dollar, it was never known that ancient dollars who cost up to thousands of dollars. "The 1799 silver dollar really strikes some emotional heartstrings with U.S. coin collectors even though it's not particularly rare – they love this really early stuff," said publisher Dave Margulius of CollectorsWeekly.com.

Los Angeles widow Elsie Poncher arranged for the remains of her late businessman husband Richard in order to sell his burial plot on eBay to raise money to pay off the mortgage of her home in Beverly Hills. Richard Poncher’s burial plot was situated directly above Marlyn Monroe’s in Los Angeles’ Westwood Village Cemetry. Elsie’s plan to plot was a huge success and thus she sold it for $4.6 million.
