Brief: A group of geeks and hackers that is focused on Worms and Botnets is developing an open source tool in order to study and counter the phishing attacks via Wi-Fi. It aims at improving the detection and forensic techniques.

Famed For: Finding loopholes in the Electronic Voting Machines.

Brief: The hacker who has experienced the irony of India’s democracy. He, along with Alex Halderman and Rop Gonggrijp discovered the loopholes in the electronic voting machines that are used during elections in India. He exposed that anyone with a knowledge of intruding into systems can easily hack the EVM and manipulate it according to his wish. To his fate, he was arrested on a non-bail warrant for alleged criminal charges that included stealing EVM. Though he is now out on bail and is in the U.S., he still faces criminal prosecution. The government, instead of honoring his efforts, jailed him for his attempts to help the democracy.
