Life Is Good

Co-founders: Bert Jacobs and John Jacobs

Brothers- Bert Jacobs and John Jacobs designed their first t-shirt in 1989. For the next five years they went on selling the tees on the streets of Boston and in college dormitories while living in the van  that carried them and their tees in the road trips and making just enough to make the ends meet. In a gathering in their Boston apartment, a happy, beret-wearing stick figure with a contagious smile drew attention of friends and he was named Jake. Jake was then paired with the golden lines- ’Life Is Good’. They printed 48 Jake tee shirts and took these to a local fair in Cambridge, Massachusetts. All the stuff got sold in less than an hour. And a star was born.

Now the Life Is Good tee shirts are sold in 30 countries including the U.S. They have 4500 retail stores along with the online direct to costumer store. Their 2010 sales amounted to $100million, reports CNBC.com.
