Born: Windows 3

Died: Windows 95

One of Windows’ revolutionary technology, designed for customers to copy, rename, move and even print using DOS command lines, the Program and file manager clearly changed the whole landscape of file management. This program had all the needed expertise, from sub directories to directory tree; the manager program also had icons in them. But later in Windows 95, the introduction of Windows Explorer brought utilities like file management, program launching and file icons, just in a simple program. This eventually led to program and file manager’s death.

Born: Windows 95

Died: Eventually weakened and then diminished.

The new generation has seen MSN as the Microsoft network. But later with the official launch of MSN and Windows Explorer, the Microsoft Network, slowly faded away from the tech world.
