International tourism expenditure in 2012: $38.1 billion

France is one of the most visited countries in the world. This country attracts more than 10 million tourists every year and the French people spend a lot of money, travelling overseas and visiting countries across the globe.
In 2011, there were about 79.5 million tourists in France and was among the top tourist destination in the world after U.S. and China.
Some of the most popular tourists’ sites include the Eiffel Tower, Palace of Versailles, Musée d'Orsay, Arc de Triomphe, Centre Pompidou, Mont Saint-Michel and many others.
In 2011, people of France spent $38.1 billion on travelling which increased to $44.1 billion in 2012.

7. Canada
International tourism expenditure in 2012: $35.2 billion

Canada is the second largest country in the world after Russia and has the ninth highest per capita income in the world. There is a huge demand for Canada tourism from people across the world. It is recorded that the number of Chinese tourists in Canada has increased in the past few years.

A survey conducted by the World Economic Forum says that Canada continues to be one of the top 10 tourist destinations in the world. It was found that there were many reasons which make it to the top 10; some of them are variety of natural resources, rich cultural diversity and strong air transport infrastructure.

People from this country are very passionate about travelling and they consider travelling as a very important aspect of their lives. Well, this makes them as one of the biggest spenders of international tourism.
