 International tourism expenditure in 2012: $52.3 billion

United Kingdom has become the top fifth tourist destination in the world and has beaten U.S. The Queen's Diamond Jubilee celebrations and the Olympic Games in 2012 have played a very important role in promoting U.K. as an attractive tourist destination. In 2012, there were 4,15,000 people who visited U.K. and is expecting an increase by the end of 2013.  

The British people are usually considered serious travelers and these make them as one of the highest spender on international tourism.

5. Russia
International tourism expenditure in 2012: $42.8 billion

Russia is the largest country in the world and is one of the fastest growing countries in the world. The growth of tourism of Russia is growing rapidly. Russian tourist destinations include Golden Ring of ancient cities, cruises on the big rivers like the Volga and long journeys on the famous Trans-Siberian Railway.

Apart from being one of the international tourist’s destinations, the Russians have spent $32 billion in 2011, on international travelling and the amount has increased to $42 billion in 2012.
