The country’s defense budget has risen from 0.8 percent to 4.68 trillion yen ($51.7 billion). Since coming to power, Shinzo Abe, the Prime Minister began pushing for a stronger military and he further suggested that Japan should be allowed to be a part of U.N. sanctioned military actions.
