AAP's Victory: A Birth of New Indian Political Scenario

Bangalore: The Delhi Assembly elections have given birth to a new political party called Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) which gives a platform to the masses to opt for alternative politics. The impressive debut of AAP shows that the aam aadmi (common man) of India is now willing to trust Gen-X politics, reports Neerja Chowdhury for Economic Times.

AAP chief, Arvind Kejriwal not only defeated the strong hold of three term CM Shiela Dikshit in her own constituency, but his party was just less than BJP tally in terms of popular votes and seats. This is a rare feat which he achieved in just one year, something that has never happened in the last three decades. This hardly one year old political party has accomplished this remarkable feat facing two Indian political biggies like BJP and the Congress parties.

It is evident from the assembly polls results that the AAP vote has cut across different sections of societies where most of its candidates have consistently won from middle class colonies as well as from upper class elites.
