8. Germany:

The German Army founded in 1955 as part of the newly formed West German Bundeswehr along with the Marine (Navy) and the Luftwaffe (Air Force), today has a strength of 62,279 soldiers. It is commanded by the Inspector of the Army based at the Federal Ministry of Defence in Berlin and Bonn. The major commands are the German Army Office in Cologne and the German Army Command in Koblenz. As of 2012, it is reported that the country spent over $48.6 billion on its military, which is 1.4 percent of the country’s GDP.

7. Saudi Arabia:

Saudi Arabia, the largest Arab state in Western Asia faces a various range of domestic and regional security threats. Since the country is a leading energy supplier worldwide, the Kingdom's defense capabilities carry much added importance. As such, the Saudi Arabian defense spending comes up to $54.2 billion. The expenditure accounted for 10 percent imports for major conventional weapons in the last decade. It is also the increasing tensions with Iran that drove Saudi Arabia to purchase American weapons at record levels thereby increasing its military expenses.
