Sudan

Republic of Sudan is an Arab state in North Africa and is exposed to macroeconomic risk, security, resource security, climate change and infectious disease. In 1989 Omar al-Bashir led a group of army officers and in his leadership the new military government suspended political parties and introduced Islamic legal code. In 1993 his powers increased and he was appointed as the President of the country. Whereas the Sudanese government supported the use of Arab militias in guerilla warfare like the ongoing conflict in Darfur. The country has been a subject to severe sanctions due to Jihad and al-Qaeda.
