Influenced by
My parents have been the greatest influence in my life. From my Mom, I got the habit of reading books, putting yourself in the others shoes and having the patience to delay gratification and not try to cut corners and walk the straight path.

Dads are the unsung heroes of most peoples lives. I learn about conduct and getting along with people (forbearance) and helping people from my Dad.
Important lesson learned
Important Lesson- Goals, Persistence and Determination is the key to success. You should keep trying till you succeed. Life is like a game of snakes and ladders. You will reach number 98, 2 squares away from Home, only to be bitten by a "snake" and you will go back to square 1. Dont lost hope, roll up your sleeves and throw the dice again, make one more phone call or attend one more interview till you get what you are seeking. The world does not care how many times you wrote that exam, or attended a interview or made a phone call to a customer. It just sees the end results. Try Till You Succeed. Loser is someone who is afraid of Losing. As long as you are trying, you are on the way to success. Success is progressive realization of worthy ideal. For motivation, I listen to songs, Autograph - Ovvuru pookalume (Tamil Movie), Lakshya (Hindi), Poem- Koshish Karne Walon Ki Haar Nahi Hoti.....
Initiative to develop a country
Professionals can contribute some time for the Community. Look around you there are schools where you can go and teach. All companies have Social Service Units/ Departments. Volunteer some of your time to these Social activites and then see the difference in your life. Hosh Walon Khabar Kya Zindagi Kya Cheez Hai, Social Work Kijiye Phir Samajiye Zingadi Kya Cheez Hai. Einstein Quotes, "Purpose of Life is to serve Mankind".
My role model
My Role Model is Benjamin Franklin. Autobiography of Ben Franklin is a classic book for Self-Improvement. Ben Franklins Proverbs are like Tiruvalluvars Thirukurral - a guide to live honorably and contribute to the company and society.
"If you want to be remembered; do things worth writing, or write things worth reading."
Benjamin Franklin

Benjamin Franklin who was one of the Founding Fathers of the United States. A noted polymath, Franklin was a leading author, printer, political theorist, politician, postmaster, scientist, musician, inventor, satirist, civic activist, statesman, and diplomat. As a scientist, he was a major figure in the American Enlightenment and the history of physics for his discoveries and theories regarding electricity. He invented the lightning rod, bifocals, the Franklin stove, a carriage odometer, and the glass 'armonica'
Brief description about me
I am currently working as Technical Architect in Syntel Ltd. My role is Centre of Excellence Lead for Actuate and Jasper. I have over 15 years experience in IT. I am married and have two lovely daugthers. My passion is Computers and Social Work.
I am from Mumbai and did my Graduation in Commerce from Narsee Monjee College. Commerce Graduate becoming IT Technical Architect is because I was Chess Champion in College and Winner of Mumbai Under-19, Winner of Maharashtra U-19 and Madras District Under-25 Tournaments.
Important decision
I wanted to be a professional chess player. I took a decision to take Computers as a career choice and leave the sportsman life.

You would have seen the movie Paan Singh Tomar, ( Life of a Sportman read non-cricketer)

The other important decision would be choice of Spouse, with the blessings of Almighty and My Parents and In-Laws.

Do we take decisions or do we go with the flow according to the situation. We have to connect the dots each day and weave a pattern for our Life.
Thoughts on Education system of our country
Education system is in state of transition from traditional rote learning to more of practical and hands on experience. You have more choices now like Montessori, Computer Based Smart ClassRooms etc.

Colleges advertise about their placement services not about what the student learn in the 3 / 4 years of study . Most of the Graduates from Engineering and Arts Colleges are not ready to be placed in Corporates.

We have finishing Schools for them where you talk about Soft skills.

For improving quality, I think Soft skills and Moral Training should be based compulsory in primary classes. Purpose of Education should be to bring out the humane qualities from within a person.

Few suggestions, would be to focus on the languages, vocabulary, grammar and focus on one or two core subjects for specialization.
Degree that I recommend
Certification- The Open Group Architecture Framework (TOGAF)
and Certification on Big Data , Jaspersoft would definitely be useful.
Couple of years from now
In couple of years, I would be proficient in Jaspersoft and Big Data and other Open Source Technologies. The Position does not create the Leader. The Leader creates the Position. I focus on Contribution and let the market decide the value. Warren Buffet Quotes, "The stock market is like a voting machine in the short run and a weighing machine in the long run". I will be a overnight star after Two Years.
My family background
I am from the Nadar Community. They have been well known for their perseverance, untiring energy, commitments and dedication to their work, business and contribution to Society. From the business field to the service industry, you can find Nadars in all the fields.

Kamaraj Nadar is known as KingMaker in Indian politic. He was CM of Tamil Nadu( 1954-63) and is still remembered in Tamil Nadu, for bringing school education to millions of the rural poor by introducing free education and the free Midday Meal Scheme during his tenure as Chief minister. The movie "Kamaraj" is an inspiring one and must watch for all.

I don't have to look further than my Maternal Grandfather, Parents and Family Members for inspiration to become a Good Samaritan.
Family circle is expanding as we contribute to the Society. For the Magnanimous man, the entire word is one Family. To talk about Family background, I am Proud to be an Indian.
My achievements
Achievement in Chess-
I have been Captain of Mumbai University Chess team.
Winner of Maharashtra Under-19 Chess Tournament
Winner of Bombay- Under-19 Chess Tournament
Winner of Madras District U-25 Chess Tournament.

Achievement in Computer.
I have developed an Automation tool for Migrating Actuate Reports to Jasper. I am proud of this tool. Recently, I was Co-Panelist in a Live Webinar which was cohosted by Jasper Corporation and Syntel Ltd on Feb 7th 2013. You can find more details of the Webinar and the tool in the below link.
Qualities needed to become a successful leader
Leader should have capability to Influence people, Competent and Someone with Character and Integrity.
Ensuring success
To grow and develop, I focus on keeping my mind engaged by solving puzzles, solving Rubik's cube (in 2 mins), playing chess.
Health and Physical Fitness is also important.

I also read books on technology, listen to motivational audio tapes and attending Seminar and read blogs from different sites. I think Silicon India is doing a great job in conducting Seminars and spreading the knowledge of IT.
My strongest skill
Problem Solving Skills, Persistence, Technology Expertise (Actuate/ Jasper), Communication skills.
More about myself
If there is one advice, I can give to the budding IT Professional, I would say that, "Know Yourself and Focus on Your Strenghts".
Dont limit yourself to one technology like Java or .NET. Tomorrow when a new technology comes along as it will, they your experience become 0. It is like a batsman who start his/her innings on 0.

Alvin Toffler wrote that “the illiterate of the twenty-first century will not be those who cannot read and write, but those who cannot learn, unlearn, and relearn”.
