Android’s Frozen Yogurt aka Froyo was released with high improvements in Speed, memory, and performance optimizations implemented through just-in-time compilation. It also brought forth Flash support, USB and Wi-Fi hotspot capabilities.

Android 2.3. Gingerbread

Gingerbread, which was released on December 2010, is the most used Android version in history. According to Googles statistics, majority of Android devices in use still run Gingerbread. The OS has updated user interface design with increased simplicity and speed. It supported capabilities like Near Field Communication and also support for extra-large screen sizes and resolutions.

Android 3.0. Honeycomb

Realizing the potential of Tablets, Android Honeycomb was Google’s first attempt on a purely tablet focused version of the operating system. Motorola Xoom tablet, the first device featuring this version was released on February 2011. The OS optimized tablet support with a new virtual and “holographic” user interface, which is still the standard for modern Android tablets.
