The ICS version of Android tried to unify both Smartphones and Tablets. The updated version bought face unlock, a feature that allowed users to unlock handsets using facial recognition software. The OS also had 1080p video recording, a built in photo editor and an improved camera app with zero shutter lag.

Android 4.1 Jelly Bean

Jelly Bean brought one of the most enhanced user interfaces in Android history. Its primary aim was improving the functionality and performance of the user interface with “Project Butter,” which used touch anticipation, triple buffering, extended vsync timing and a fixed frame rate of 60 fps to create a fluid and "buttery-smooth" UI. Jelly Bean also introduced Google Now, the future of search.

Android 4.2

Google announced the release of its Android 4.2 version on last week, calling it "A new flavor of Jelly Bean." The rumored name “Key Lime Pie” was however absent in Google’s press release. The devices to carry the latest version first would be Nexus 4 Smartphone and Nexus 10 tablet.
