KRAFTON India Gaming Incubator Increases Cohort Size
KRAFTON India Gaming Incubator (KIGI) has also expanded the size of its cohort from four to six studios, welcoming a new batch of startups as it looks to grow from the experience it gained with its first cohort. The newly inducted studios are Mumbai-based independent developers Kleanup Games and Singular Scheme, Kolkata's Advaita Interactive, Bengaluru's Smash Head Studio, Hyderabad's Unwind Games, and New Delhi's Ginger Games.
This growth enables KIGI to take its impact to up-and-coming gaming hubs throughout India, such as Kolkata and Madurai, thus creating a more vibrant gaming ecosystem. The program is crafted to address some of the prevalent difficulties that Indian gaming studios grapple with, which KIGI has been keenly working on while keeping a close eye on the performance of its inaugural cohort, which was announced in March 2024.
Like its prior cohort, KIGI will provide a detailed mentorship program lasting six months to one year, as well as financial aid of up to $150,000 per studio. This funding is designed to empower these startups to deal with the intricacies of game creation and improve their chances of survival in a tough market.
In order to further support the capabilities of these studios, KIGI has partnered with industry leaders like AWS, AccelByte, App Magic, and Liftoff's GameRefinery. These partnerships are designed to meet the specific needs of game design and development, offering studios the resources and expertise necessary to successfully bring their products to market.
By increasing its cohort and strengthening its support system, KIGI is not just betting on the future of gaming in India but also helping to fuel the development of a dynamic and innovative gaming community that can hold its own on the global stage.
