AMU Innovation Foundation and Nexcope wow at Startup Mahakumbh 2025 in New Delhi
Aligarh Muslim University Innovation Foundation (AMUIF) was proud to be AMU's representative at Startup Mahakumbh 2025, India's largest innovation and entrepreneurship festival, convened between April 3–5 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. Entitled "Startup India @2047 Unfolding the Bharat Story," the event was attended by over 3,000 startups, 1,000 incubators and investors, and over 50,000 foreign business delegates.
Nexcope Private Limited, a top incubatee of the AMUIF's inclusive Technology Business Incubator (i-TBI), showcased its technology innovation at the event. Nexcope develops plug-and-play Payload Bus solutions for satellites, with a high-end zero-memory image compression algorithm compressing data by orders of magnitude, accelerating processing, and minimizing transmission cost providing scalable applications in space, defense, AgriTech, and disaster management.
AMU Innovation Foundation is a Section-8 not-for-profit company of Aligarh Muslim University, with a mission to foster technological entrepreneurship and innovation through its i-TBI, set up with the assistance of the Department of Science and Technology's NIDHI scheme. AMUIF caters to students, researchers, alumni, and entrepreneurs of AMU and the region and offers infrastructure to transform research into scalable ventures (www.amuif.co.in).
At the three-day Startup Mahakumbh, the Nexcope stall witnessed 30–35 startup visits by investors and experts. The Nexcope team had an enriching interaction with other entrepreneurs and stakeholders and discovered potential synergies that can be harmonized with the objectives of AMUIF. Extremely interested startups were present who were eager to utilize Nexcope's high-efficiency technology to propel operations, product functionality, and access to the market. The Nexcope team also toured other startup stalls, seeing potential co-operation opportunities in fields such as Drone Technology, Defense, and Space. The interest generated for Nexcope's scalable solutions mirrored promising opportunities for joint ventures, marketing partnerships, and product development initiatives.
Speaking on behalf of the AMU Innovation Foundation, CEO Dr. Mohd Maaz Husain offered strategic advice and emphasized the key role played by AMUIF in nurturing startups. Entrepreneurial team members of Nexcope, such as Ms. Ilma Shah (COO), Mr. Musharraf Abdullah (CTO), and interns Ms. Yashra Malik and Ms. Daniya Parveen, demonstrated technical competence and entrepreneurial zeal, making valuable contributions to the firm's noteworthy impact.
The successful entry of AMUIF and Nexcope into Startup Mahakumbh 2025 is a milestone moment in their journey of innovation. The event gave them valuable knowledge on market trends and startup behavior, and provided them with the building blocks of long-term collaborations and joint ventures.
According to the report, a comprehensive follow-up action plan will be initiated to strengthen the new connections forged. AMUIF and Nexcope plan to capitalize on this momentum to increase innovation, establish inter-sector synergies, and contribute meaningfully to India's innovation ecosystem as it transforms towards 2047.
The event rekindled the passion of AMUIF to promote innovation and state-of-the-art research, and to transform AMU into a technological leadership and innovation center.
