Kerala Startup Neiox Eco Cycle Secures Rs 75 Lakh Grant from Cochin Shipyard

Kerala-based deep-tech climate startup Neiox Eco Cycle has secured a Rs 75 lakh prototyping grant from Cochin Shipyard Ltd (CSL) under the USHUS Maritime Innovation Scheme, marking a major milestone in the state’s sustainable innovation ecosystem.

The official agreement was signed at a ceremony held at IIM Kozhikode, where  Akhil Raj Pottekkat,CEO of Neiox, received the cheque from CSL officials. The event was attended by senior representatives from CSL, IIM Kozhikode, and NIT Calicut.

Neiox Eco Cycle plans to use the grant to develop the world’s first sustainable, non-toxic, carbon-negative marine hull coating. The coating, derived from captured air pollutants, will help prevent corrosion and biofouling in ships while enhancing fuel efficiency and reducing carbon emissions. This breakthrough innovation not only supports climate action but also turns air pollution, a global health hazard, into a valuable economic resource.

Recognized by Kerala Startup Mission (KSUM) and supported by TBI NIT Calicut and LIVE IIM Kozhikode, Neiox Eco Cycle focuses on climate resilience, public health innovation, and industrial sustainability.

Pottekkat said the company aims to transform “the world’s greatest environmental and health liabilities into economic assets”. He added that the collaboration with CSL reflects Kerala’s growing leadership in maritime sustainability and its vision for a cleaner, greener future.
