Meet These Business Gurus of the Indian Diaspora Revolutionizing the 'Kismet' of the US B-Schools


Dipak Chand Jain

Dipak Chand Jain served as the Dean of Kellogg School, bringing more than 20 years of experience in management and education to his position at the school's helm.

Jain's areas of research include the marketing of high-tech products; market segmentation and competitive market structure analysis, and forecasting models.

He wrote elucidative articles that paved the way for marketing enthusiasts to assuage their concerns over the ever-changing trends occurring in the sector. Jain also taught courses on marketing research, new products and services, and statistical models in marketing.

He completed his schooling in Tezpur, Assam. He went on to earn his bachelor's degree in mathematics and statistics in 1976 and his master's degree in mathematical statistics in 1978 from the Guwahati University.

He earned his Ph.D. in marketing from the University of Texas.

Sunil Kumar

Sunil Kumar is the 15th provost and Senior Vice President for academic affairs at Johns Hopkins University. He is the first Asian-American to occupy the desirable positions, there.

Kumar also served as Dean at Chicago Booth since 2011 and previously was a professor and senior associate dean for academic affairs at the Stanford University Graduate School of Business.

Kumar is known for his operation management and research work and is a well-read author too.

Born in India, he graduated in 1990 from Mangalore University with a bachelor's degree in engineering. Two years later, he earned Master of Engineering in systems science and automation from the Indian Institute of Science in Bangalore.
