Meet These Business Gurus of the Indian Diaspora Revolutionizing the 'Kismet' of the US B-Schools


Srilatha Zaheer

Srilata (Sri) Zaheer is the 12th dean of the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota, a position she occupied since 2012.

Sri has been engaged in relentless efforts to bring hands-on learning opportunities for the students in the School and took initiatives to introduce several new programs, including new master’s programs in Business Analytics, Finance, and Supply Chain Management, for them.

Sri joined the Minnesota University in 1992 as an assistant professor. There she held a variety of roles before becoming dean, including serving as the Ph.D. coordinator in the Department of Strategic Management and Entrepreneurship (SME), department chair, and associate dean of faculty and research.

Sri, the first Indian woman dean of a top US business school, earned her BSc in Physics from Madras University. She pursued her Masters in the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmadabad and her doctoral degree in International Management from MIT’s Sloan School of Management.

The Indian wave has been gathering more strength in the past few years, after attaining academic brilliance, establishing a professorial presence, and working on cutting edge research by steering positions at the best of International universities.
