International Women's Day '22 - Here's what Women Leaders had to say

Hwa Choo Lim, VP-HR APAC, Equinix“Furthering gender equity in technology is still an uphill journey in India. According to World Economic Forum’s Global Gender Gap Report 2021, women in India held only 29.2 per cent of technical role. There are still reasons and biases which need to be removed to encourage  female pursue higher studies in general and  STEM studies in particular. One of the causes is the lack of hygienic amenities especially in schools and colleges in  remote areas. This becomes a deterrent for adolescent girls who then fall out of education system.
This year’s theme of International Women’s Day is #BreakTheBias. In line with this, Equinix aims to address this basic roadblock by conducting a Menstrual Hygiene Awareness drive for 6 schools in remote areas around Mumbai through NGOs in March. Under this program, we will organize awareness camps, distribute sanitary napkins and provide gynaecologist check-ups for more than 900 girls. We are also getting separate girls’ toilets created in a government school to encourage girls to attend school.”
